Pooknflip Productions

Today I am featuring the delightful plushies and art dolls made by Cassandra from PooknflipProductions

1. Why and/or how did you get interested in making your products?
I got into making plushies and art dolls after I found the blogging community and discovered Etsy. It really opened up a new world - I saw all the wonderful things people were making online and all the little stories the plush artists would come up with for their creations. And I thought - that’s me all over. I always have so many ideas, and love to sew, and wanted to make people smile just how the artists who inspired me had made me smile.

2. Do you make/design the product or do other people help you?
I make all of my own products from concept to creation. Things usually start with just a thought or glimmer of an idea and then I sketch a few things out. I then create a pattern for that idea so I can turn my two dimensional drawing into a three dimensional critter. I sew all my stuff by hand using a my trusty old Singer and a whole lot of hand-stitching.

3. What is the favorite piece you have made and why?
My two favorite pieces would be Eustace, the first art doll I made, and a large dragon I’m working on right now for my nephew. Both are completely one of a kind items and are 100% handstitched (no machine work!). I put so much love into each one of my creations - this really is my passion.

His boots aren't done yet in this post, but here's Eustace

Now isn't this guy cute?

Here are a couple of her other favorites

The dragon is one of her latest creations and the Gnome is one of her latest obesessions that she loves making. I can see why! They are both adorable and are just waiting for the perfect home.

5. Are you doing any craft shows this year?

Actually, I am doing doing my very first craft show this year! I will be at “Santa’s Craft Castle” craft show on November 19th. This is a juried event hosted by the Booster Club at Eisenhower High School in Shelby Twp. with an expected 150-200 crafters - all local handmade-only artists! The school’s commons areas will be turned into a winter wonderland complete with holiday decor and an orchestra and everything! I’m so very excited to take my business to this next level - I can’t wait!

If you'd like to see these lovely creations in person stop by and say hello to Cassandra!

  1. Thank you so much for the lovely feature!! I love this local artist week you're doing - such a great idea and so sweet of you to ask.

Just a note that my Facebook fan page is searchable by "Pooknflip" not my personal name - just in case I didn't say that before. :) I'll keep in touch regarding having you over on my blog!!
